The language of power is an illustration of the mechanical arbitrary manipulations carried out on the language by the organs of power, whether political, economic, managerial or media. This project builds on the ideas of writers George Orwell (1984) and Viktor Klemperer (LTI – Lingua Tertii Imperii: the language of the Third Reich) on the manipulation of language by totalitarian powers. It also draws reading contemporary phenomenon developed by the french writer Eric Hazan in LQR : la propagande du quotidien. The language of power, Newspeak in English or NovLangue in French, is the language of abstract ideas, interchangeable parts of speech, injunctions and implicit lexical performance. He wants to pretend to be a revealed truth then it is an illusion semantics.
The device is generated by an algorithm that combines a random 5 blocks each consisting of 14 words. Each block of words is a grammatical element specific: noun / order / infinitive verb / compound verb / complement. The program connects three successive grammatical structures:
